  pulsar hunting

  pulsars — dead stars sweeping a beam past earth hundreds of times a second — are rare enough in telescope data that a model scores well by never finding one. so i made fake ones until it had enough to learn from.

   updating a database usually means taking it offline, and at 10,000+ clusters that adds up to a lot of unhappy enterprises. i built the rolling update system that moves through nodes in batches, so the service keeps serving through its own upgrades.

2. peraton labs

   swe intern · june 2024 — august 2024 · basking ridge, nj

   models deployed on edge hardware go stale as conditions change, and there's no sending data back to a datacenter to fix that. i built the pipeline that retrains them in place, on live sensor, terrain, and weather feeds.

   getting an answer out of a data warehouse means knowing its schema and writing the sql, so business teams end up waiting on analysts. i built the layer that takes the question in plain english and writes the query — and gets better every time someone corrects it.
